Defra Approved Chemicals

All bird keepers should take a long, hard look at their bio-security measures. In the event of an avian flu case near to you, you can expect a visit from DEFRA or the Scottich or Northern Ireland equivalents. They are likely to want to assess the risk to and from your birds.

This may involve the clothes you wear into your bird room, any disinfectant you do to your shoes, hands etc on entering and leaving your birds and the disenfectants you use on your cages and food and water utensils. We strongly advise you to use a DEFRA approved disinfectant as no officials will be able to query your choice.
